    The Mendon Community School District is located in St. Joseph County in southwest Michigan. It is a small, rural district with approximately 700 students in preschool through 12th grade.  The administration and teaching staff are committed to providing the best possible education for the students in a safe and secure environment.

    The core curriculum provides students with a variety of learning experiences and a solid foundation for continued growth and development in college or the work force.

    Mendon Community Schools serves the community of Mendon and portions of Leonidas, Centreville, and Three Rivers.

  • TORNADO POLICY

    TORNADO WATCH - When a tornado watch is in effect, the District will continue normal activities but move recess and physical education activities indoors.  Each building and department shall designate someone to be responsible for continuously monitoring the watch while students are in the building or on the premises.  School will NOT be dismissed early; dismissal time will be at the regular time even if the watch is still in effect.
     
    TORNADO WARNING  - When a tornado warning is in effect, staff shall open all classroom windows and doors and proceed with all students to the predesignated tornado shelter areas and remain there with the students until further notice.  Disabled students who need assistance will be assisted by the person designated to them for building evacuations.  No student shall be allowed out of his/her disignated area unless his/her parent comes to the school and requests that the student be released.  A student is to be released only to his/her parents.
